To tell you the truth, Samraat, I don't care about generality at all. Too much of ecology is focused on a fruitless search for generality. To me, the interesting question, is a model or a theory useful for understanding data, or isn't it? Maybe I'm narrow minded, but I have seen so much really boring efforts to achieve generality. Ecology is rife with that stuff.
